Surfer in Waves

Here now

where now

is the sea’s urge still

sea’s surge and thunder”

Lawrence Ferlinghetti

(from: The Sea and Ourselves at Cape Ann)

Radiant realms

surround my soul

today.

The biting wind

carries me away

while

the waves

race

across a seething sea.

Silvery sands

appear in the distance

where tides

ceaselessly

ebb and flow.

Suspended in the timeless

I slide over the abyss

then suddenly merge

into the dazzling reflections

of a purple twilight.
